Bryan & Emma’s Rustic Vintage Wedding at Mount Druid

When Bryan and Emma told me they were tying the knot at Mount Druid, I got all kinds of excited. Why? Because this spot is a photographer’s dream—rustic, quirky, and just bursting with personality. And when you mix a vintage venue with a couple as chill and laid-back as these two, you just know the vibes are going to be off the charts.

mount druid – a vintage wedding paradise

Located in Castletown Geoghegan, Westmeath, Mount Druid is a unique and alternative wedding venue set on a stunning 100-acre parkland. It offers a rustic, nature-inspired experience with various distinctive spaces to host your ceremony and reception.

  • The Tin Chapel: A charming and unconventional "unconsecrated" chapel nestled among pine trees, perfect for civil ceremonies or blessings.

  • The Boathouse: A peaceful lakeside location, ideal for photos or intimate moments.

  • The Barn: A vintage-styled venue for receptions, decorated with restored antique furniture, seating up to 220 guests for meals and dancing.

For those who haven’t heard of Mount Druid, let me paint the picture. It’s like every corner of this place is screaming, "Take a picture here!"

the morning with emma and the bridal party

I started the day with Emma and her bridal party at Mount Druid, snapping away while they were having a relaxed morning. No posed shots here, just good vibes and lots of laughter. Emma’s plan? No bridal prep pics—she wanted more candid shots of them hanging around the venue, soaking up the morning excitement. And honestly, that's what I love doing best.

No stiff poses, no awkward smiles—just Bryan, Emma, and their crew feeling like themselves, getting ready to say ‘I do’ in the most laid-back way possible.

ceremony in the tin chapel

At around 1 PM, I headed over to the Tin Chapel, one of Mount Druid’s iconic locations. The place has this intimate, cosy vibe that makes every wedding feel special. Whether it was the warm lighting or the way Bryan couldn’t stop grinning when Emma walked down the aisle, the ceremony was all heart. It lasted about 40 minutes, but every second was packed with love, a few cheeky smiles, and maybe even a tear or two (not from me, I swear... okay, maybe).

a boathouse reception & lake vibes

Once the ceremony wrapped up, we headed to the Boathouse by the lake for some post-wedding drinks. It was the perfect spot to kick back, have a few laughs, and grab some fantastic photos with the stunning lake views. With Emma and Bryan's crowd of around 80-100 guests mingling and having a great time, it was all about those natural, unposed moments—just people being themselves.

celebrating in the barn

After some lakeside fun at the Boathouse, we moved on to the Barn for the speeches and dinner. This vintage-styled venue, decorated with restored antique furniture, set the stage for speeches that had everyone laughing and shedding happy tears. As the guests settled in for dinner, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement for the evening ahead.

my time with the couple

While I was only with them for the first four hours of the day, we made the most of every minute. Bryan and Emma kept things super chill—no dramatic setups, just us walking around the venue, snapping pics as we went. They trusted me to capture their day as it unfolded, which made the whole thing feel really organic and fun. Before the bell rang for dinner, my time with them was up, but it was all kinds of fun capturing this quirky, vintage celebration.

why i love shooting at mount druid

Honestly, Mount Druid is made for couples like Bryan and Emma. The mix of the vintage chapel, gorgeous gardens, and rustic barn makes it one of the coolest venues in Ireland. It’s got character for days, and it’s the kind of place where you can really let your hair down and enjoy the day without feeling too “formal.”
